Residhotel Le Grand Prado is easy to find in the Prado district of Marseille, about a hundred meters from the Périer metro station. Reception is open 24 hours a day. One word is enough for a key issue, a question about parking, or the address of the nearest bakery. The staff knows the neighborhood and makes it feel that way, without overdoing it.

The accommodation is divided between studios for two people and one-bedroom apartments that can accommodate up to six guests, including a sofa bed for more than two. The kitchenette takes up one corner of the room: electric hobs, a microwave, a refrigerator, and a Cafés Richard coffee machine whose capsules can be bought at reception. Enough to have a coffee before heading out, without waiting for anyone.

One point is worth clarifying for couples who book: the bedding offered sometimes consists of two twin beds pushed together rather than a true king-size bed. It is better to make this clear at the time of booking if it matters.

Air conditioning runs in all rooms, useful on Marseille heatwave afternoons. The bathrooms, with either a shower or a bathtub depending on the accommodation, remain adequately sized. A large number of the apartments open onto a private balcony, where you can leave a towel to dry or have a coffee on an improvised terrace, facing the neighborhood rooftops.

On the ground floor, a hair salon and a space dedicated to business events coexist with the common areas. For passing business travelers, a meeting room can be booked for an extra charge, a few minutes’ walk from the Convention Center and Parc Chanot.

When leaving the residence, the immediate streets around Prado remain mostly functional, more like a business district than a picture postcard. On the other hand, you will find everyday shops there, a grocery store, a market, everything you need without having to plan much in advance.

For families, a baby cot and a high chair are provided on request, free of charge. A detail that can change an entire stay with a young child.

In the evening, walking back toward Périer after an outing by Prado beach, the light falls on the residence balconies, one after another. One last tip: keep a coin or two on you for the Prado Périer Indigo parking under the building; entry is paid directly at the barrier before taking the elevator.
