easyHotel Marseille Euromed has settled on Boulevard de Paris, in the Euromed district of Marseille. The address opened in autumn 2024, amid cranes and the still-new facades of this part of the city that is being reshaped between La Joliette and the port.

It is often reached on foot, after getting off at Désirée Clary metro station, two minutes from reception. For those arriving by train, it is about a twenty-minute walk from Saint-Charles, or a quick transfer at Joliette. The Old Port and the Mucem are still two kilometers away, an easy trip by tram.

As soon as you step inside, the concept becomes clear: no endless lobby, no chandeliers. A reception open day and night, a light wood counter, and staff who switch between French, English, and Spanish depending on who walks in.

Going up the floors (there are seven), the 111 rooms are all about the essentials. Twelve square meters on average, a queen-size bed or two single beds, blackout curtains, air conditioning, soundproofing that does a good job of cutting out the boulevard noise. The private bathroom comes with a shower and hairdryer. A flat-screen TV rounds out the setup. This is not a place for spreading out; the space is compact, but every square meter is designed to cover the essentials. The mattress deserves a mention: the brand claims a comfort level close to that of a four-star hotel, and the promise holds up fairly well for a night or two.

On the ground floor, a water dispenser and a coffee-tea machine are freely available, useful early in the morning or late at night, when you do not want to head back out into the city for a coffee. Breakfast is extra (around 11.50 euros), served as a continental buffet from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.: pastries, bread, fruit, cured meats. It is not included in the room rate, something to keep in mind if you plan to have breakfast on-site every day.

Housekeeping-wise, the room is cleaned every six days, a deliberate policy to reduce water consumption. An additional cleaning can be requested at reception, for an extra fee. For a night or two, that changes nothing. For a week-long stay, it is best to know in advance.

The hotel also claims a carbon footprint reduced by about two-thirds compared with a standard four-star hotel: wooden access cards, zero single-use plastic in common areas, materials chosen to last. Seven rooms are accessible to guests with reduced mobility, with no step up to the bathroom.

For luggage left after checkout, there is a storage service at reception (paid service), useful on departure day when the train leaves late. Outside, a bicycle parking area completes the offering for those cycling around the city.

Around the hotel, the Euromed district does not really sleep: several restaurants and cafés are a few streets away, more than enough to improvise dinner without leaving the area.

Breakfast must be ordered directly at reception before 9:30 a.m. It is best to do so early, before groups heading for Saint-Charles station fill the small dining room.
