The ibis Marseille Centre Euromed overlooks the Euroméditerranée district, that vast urban development project that has reshaped the northern part of the city over the past twenty years. Office buildings stand alongside the former docks that have been converted. Marseille feels very close, without being quite there yet.

The Old Port and the Mucem are often presented as immediate neighbors. In reality, you need to allow for a good half-hour walk, or three tram stops from Joliette station, four hundred meters from reception. The T2/T3 line runs along the Joliette district and its 19th-century cathedral before dropping you at the foot of the Old Port. The journey lets you watch the city change its face in just a few minutes.

On the ground floor, reception remains open day and night. The lobby was redesigned during the recent renovation. You’ll find light wood flooring, plant-based touches, a reading corner with board games available and a library for children and adults alike. Children happily enjoy the play area, while others work at the coworking tables, with Wi-Fi and power outlets within easy reach.

The rooms, one hundred and ninety-two in total, follow a simple, functional design. Sweet Bed bedding, air conditioning, flat-screen TV with cable and BeIn Sport for those who would rather follow the match from their bed than at the stadium. Shower, hair dryer, nothing excessive but nothing missing either.

Breakfast is served in the dining room as a buffet. Eggs, fruit salad, yogurt, fresh-squeezed juice, pastries and madeleines prepared on site that very morning. For early risers or late sleepers, a lighter option is available from 4 a.m., with a hot drink and a piece of fruit to take away.

In the evening, the restaurant changes name and atmosphere. T.A.T.A Euromed takes its cues from Mediterranean basin cuisine, with mezze and dishes that follow the seasons. Table service, however, stops at lunchtime on weekends, including Saturday and Sunday lunch. The bar then remains open all day and serves snacks, while you wait for the restaurant to reopen for dinner.

The terrace, exposed to full sun for much of the day, fills up in the late afternoon. You’ll see business travelers closing their laptops and families coming to play a game of pétanque on the court set aside for that purpose. A Keynest pickup point and a Potager City collection point make it possible to pick up a parcel or a vegetable basket on the way out.

For parking, a nearby public car park offers a preferential rate for hotel guests.

One last point of reference: the tram runs about every five minutes during the day, toward the Old Port. Best to leave early in the morning, when the low light is still brushing the port cranes and the terraces are only just starting to put out their chairs.
