La Villa Blanche welcomes its guests at the very top of a hill in the 13th arrondissement, at the foot of the Massif de l'Étoile. It is reached by a narrow road winding between the pines, one last bend, and Marseille suddenly reveals itself, the port below, the valley stretching to the horizon. This climb requires a little patience at the wheel, especially if you are not used to small hill roads, but it is already part of the memory you keep of the place.

On the terrace, the view looks out over the port and the valley. The infinity pool borders this space, open during the warm season, especially in summer, when the heat of Marseille calls for cool water in the late afternoon.

Three bedrooms make up the house. All air-conditioned. The Shanga room, on two levels, opens onto 33 square meters shared between a bed for the parents and a mezzanine for the children, with a shower that soothes the shoulders after a day of walking. A few steps away, Blanc Ivoire follows the same pattern in a lighter tone, white walls, light bouncing around. Merlin, more intimate, is for two, with a spa bathtub to end the day gently.

Some rooms retain a four-poster bed, old parquet flooring, and a bathroom adorned with mosaic. Families with young children find real comfort here, and children under three stay free of charge.

From morning onward, breakfast is served wherever you prefer, in the lounge, on the terrace, or directly in the room. Fruit juice, pastries, jams set on the table, without rushing anyone.

After a walk, the question of dinner sometimes arises. An evening meal is indeed available, a tray prepared by the house, but it must be requested in advance. A good habit: book your evening at the same time as your room, so you miss nothing of the home cooking.

Around the villa, fifteen kilometers of trails run through the hills, enough to fill an entire day before coming back to dip your feet in the pool. In the evening, a game of pétanque is played on the dedicated court, between two drinks taken in the shade of the pines. The free private parking avoids having to look for a space when returning late.

Château-Gombert is a five-minute drive away, and La Rose metro station is about the same on foot. Enough to reach the center without haste, while still keeping, once the door is crossed, the silence of the hills.

A tip before you leave: plan to arrive before nightfall. The winding road is easier to handle with some daylight, and from the terrace at that hour, the valley gradually lights up.
