At reception, the team welcomes guests in French, English, or Spanish, and is happy to share a few lesser-known addresses: the artisans of Le Panier, Vallon des Auffes, the Saint-Victor shuttles to Frioul or Les Goudes.

The buildings date from another century. Thick walls, a stone stairwell, no elevator. Depending on the floor booked, you have to climb two, three, sometimes five flights of stairs, a detail to keep in mind if you have heavy luggage or reduced mobility. The team knows this and helps carry the bags to the door.

Inside, the tone changes. The memory foam bed lives up to expectations after a long day of walking. The air conditioning runs quietly, even in the height of summer. In the kitchenette, an oven and a large refrigerator are waiting for market groceries, while the Smart TV streams its channels from the sofa.

There is no breakfast room or room service. Downstairs, a convenience store does the job for morning bread and coffee, to take back to the apartment. You take your time by the window rather than in a queue, with a view of the rooftops or the street, depending on the floor. For anyone looking for old-fashioned breakfast service, it is better to know this before booking.

In the evening, rue Vacon changes pace. Restaurant terraces come alive, storefronts go dark one by one, and the Old Port is never far away. On the rue Pavillon side, La Canebière is just a stone’s throw away, with its cafés that stay open late.

Families traveling with children appreciate the baby cots and high chairs, set up before arrival upon request. Groups of friends enjoy the apartments with terraces, when available, to extend the evening outdoors, above the Marseille rooftops.

One last point for arrival day: it is better to let the team know your expected arrival time, as reception is not open 24/7, and a luggage storage service takes over if the flight lands too early to access the room.
