Past the door, you come directly to Café Edmond. This is where the reception is located, open day and night. The vintage finds, the retro tones, and the antique lamps set the tone from the very first seconds.

The hotel’s name is no accident. The birthplace of Edmond Rostand, the author of Cyrano de Bergerac, is just a stone’s throw away. You think of it as you open the door, without the place making too much of a point of it.

Going up the floors, you discover the sixteen rooms, spread over four levels and accessible by elevator. The colors change from one room to another—orange, red, white—with light blond parquet flooring. Air-conditioned and equipped with a private bathroom with bathtub or shower, they remain modest in size, around 14 m². Just right for a few nights’ stopover or a light stay, but a little less so for those who like to spread out their things.

On the ground floor, in the afternoon, Café Edmond changes pace. The tea room takes over, with homemade pastries, lemon poppy seed cake, lemon coconut cake, and a selection of Dammann Frères teas served loose. The hot chocolate is made from real melted chocolate.

In the morning, breakfast is served as a continental buffet from 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.: dairy products, cured meats, pastries, fresh-squeezed juices. Nothing extravagant, but everything is made on-site, including Nespresso coffee and Dammann teas, a level not always found at this price.

On foot, the Vieux-Port can be reached in about ten minutes, via Rue de Rome or Rue Paradis. Notre-Dame de la Garde rises above the hill just behind. Castellane metro station, 400 meters away, connects you to the rest of the city in just a few stops.

One point to keep in mind before booking: the hotel is not accessible to wheelchair users, despite the elevator. Best to know in advance in order to plan the stay with peace of mind. For the rest, the team remains available at any hour for parking advice, a neighborhood map, or luggage to be stored.

At the end of the day, if you return via Rue Paradis, Café Edmond is still open: it’s the perfect time for an herbal tea and a slice of cake before heading up to rest.
